A lot of issues
sling tv is a great price, but the service has issues. Like not being able to fast forward previously aired shows.
That would be too bad, if theyre not motivated to change (fix) the fast forward issue
heres the problem (when playing archived shows). Each time you press RIGHT its supposed to jump ahead 30 secs in the playback. And pressing FF is supposed to switch to fast forward mode and stays there until you press OK/PLAY
In reality though, pressing FF only seems to fast forward a few secs and then stops and drops back to normal play (and the process itself takes a few secs to complete). Pressing RIGHT doesnt do anything. The only exception is if you had already performed a rewind first, then Sling TV lets you continually fast forward up to the point where you first did the rewind.
This is even more of a problem due to the limited resume playback functionality. If you already saw the first half of a recently aired show and want to continue, Sling TV will start you at the beginning again. Then you have to keep pressing FF every few secs in a cycle, just to advance a few secs each time. The irony is that each cycle takes almost as much time to complete as what you saved in the very short fast forward jump. So its very inefficient.
Note that the problem also exists with Sling TVs mobile apps.
Does anyone know if this is a bug thats being worked on, or whether its an inherent limitation with their streaming architecture?
